The Soda Factory in Surry Hills
Hey sweetheart, now that this old dive is closing up… I know of a swingin’ new place. Some guy told me about it a few days ago, he said it was a hip honky-tonk with it’s door all hidden up behind one of them hot dog joints? And the hot dogs aren’t half bad either, he says – anyway, whaddaya say sweetheart? I’ll buy you a gin soda, take you for a dance.
A phoney fifties’ coke machine creates a secret entrance to a space you’d never expect. The Soda Factory. Surry Hills late-night sweet spot. Stripped back plaster present the stunning industrial brick bones of this beautiful old building, with a flavour focused cocktail list to match.
The food offering is aimed firmly at American diner food. Complete with diner style booths and high tables in the front and back bar. Fried Chicken, Gourmet Hot Dogs, Cheeseburgers, Mac & Cheese and Chilli Cheese Fries are popular choices.
The bar’s flavour-focused, accessible, unpretentious cocktail list reads with an adventurous streak, but nothing too intimidating. The playful approach to cocktails includes nostalgic numbers like ice cream spiders and shared soda syphons.
